English Version

The Schweizerische Mittelkaliber-Schützengesellschaft (Swiss Medium-Caliber shooters society) was founded in 1995 and is the oldest Longrange Club in Switzerland. It was the time when McMillan and Barrett brought the first precision-rifles in 50 BMG on to the market. In the early years, the club shot mainly abroad, including events in the US (Coalinga CA / Reno NV), as well as several events in Belgium on the Fabrique National range near Zutendaal. Since 2000 we have been shooting regularly in Switzerland and we are gradually obtaining additional venues in both Switzerland and abroad.

From the beginning, we have been dedicated to Longrange, and as you may know, the standard distance at over 2000 shooting ranges in Switzerland, is 300m – which in our opinion is Shortrange. For the last 16 years we spend several days every year at Schiessplatz Wichlen , an infantry and tank training range for the Swiss Army in the heart of the Swiss mountains. Currently, we are shooting primarily on six ranges in Switzerland and on three ranges in Germany and France.

Typically our rifles between .308 and .50BMG are used on distances between 600m and 2’500m, but by joining the Swiss Dynamic Shooting Federation SVDS we have also started IPSC shooting. We meet regularly on special ranges and practice these dynamic disciplines.

For many years we are committed to the shooting-sport, and at the moment, the club has 43 members and we have many guests from partner-clubs that participate in our events. Reloading is also very important for our club. Without carefully matching the ammunition to the individual rifle, the precision necessary for our sport can not be achieved . In addition to the published program we regularly meet at Brünig Indoor for precision tests and measurements.

At the moment each year we have 18 to 20 Longrange days , and regularly Shortrange trainings at 300m and IPSC. Most of us are also members of a more traditional shooting club, and we therefore shoot once or twice a week. Shooting in Switzerland is strictly regulated, and much of the information on the Web is not completely correct. We handle our sport with great care and respect and we follow strictly both the safety rules and the national regulations. Shooting is one of the most popular sports in Switzerland, and also supported by the Swiss Government.
